A Victorian Christmas!
Ron and I really enjoy the holiday season because we get to dress up our house. And this year we participated in our historic neighborhood's inaugural holiday house tour, which was a spectacular success. If you are going to be in the Maryland area next December 18, you should take the time and see the fabulous houses on the Snowflake Tour of Charles Village Homes.

In the spirit of Victorian decor, we put up lots of pine bowers and garlands. Our strings of glass beads are circa 1900-1920 and some of our ornaments date to the same period. But, to be fair, our eight-foot tree isn't exactly Victorian -- we have decorations from as recent as the 1940s.

Scott, our Christmas crazy friend who has a world-class collection of Christmas ornaments, taught us how to dress a tree. The main thing is to hang as many ornaments deep inside the tree as you hang on the outer branches.
